The church is decorated with fragrant flowers, white linens and candles, and illuminated in full Light in honor of our Resurrected Christ, the Light of the World.
The doors of the iconostasis are left fully open for the week of Pascha. This symbolizes the way to salvation has been opened to believers through Christ Our Lord by His Resurrection. Since the nave of the church represents earth, and the sanctuary heaven, the eternal space, we are reminded of this. The burial shroud used on Good Friday is now placed on the Holy Table and the Liturgy is celebrated on it until the feast of Christ’s Ascension.
From Holy Scripture (John 14:5-6): “Lord,” said Thomas, “we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” Jesus told him: “I am the Way. and the Truth. and the Life; no one comes to the Father but through me.”
We celebrate our new life in Christ during Pascha. We exclaim joyfully: “Christ Is Risen! Indeed He Is Risen!”
