2019 Divine Liturgy at Basilica of St. Ann

A Divine Liturgy is held annually at the Basilica of St. Ann, Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The annual novena to St. Ann draws thousands of faithful pilgrims from July 17 through July 26, the feast day of St. Ann on the Latin calendar (July 25 : Dormition of St. Ann on Eastern rite Calendar).  Our Bishop of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Passaic, New Jersery (currently Bishop Kurt Burnette)  celebrates the Divine Liturgy together with one of the novena preachers and rector of St. Ann’s Basilica, and with our area Byzantine Catholic priests, deacons, altar servers and choir members assisting.

The photos below from the 2019 Divine Liturgy with Bishop Kurt Burnett,  celebrant on Tuesday, July 23rd at 4:30 pm.

The Passionist preachers for the 2019 novena were Fr. Rick Frechette, C.P., D.O. & Fr. Jack Conley, C.P.

The preacher seen below, also leading in the prayers to St. Ann was Fr. Rick Frechette.  Fr. Rick is known especially for his ministry with the poor, notably in his role as a medical physician and founder of an orphanage and hospital for the children of Haiti.  You can learn more about his mission online.

Photos appear in sequential order including:  Novena prayers presented by Fr. Rick, chanting of litanies, the Gospel readings, homily, singing of the Nicene Creed, the Great Entrance with the eucharistic gifts, the Anaphora (Eucharistic prayers) and Epiclesis (consecration of the Holy Eucharist), priestly reception of the Eucharist, final prayers and blessing by Bishop Kurt, and blessing of faithful with relic of St. Ann.
