St. Michael / St. Nicholas – Parish Eastern Christian Formation

No Current Sessions at this time

Thursdays after Divine Liturgy
St. Nicholas Church rectory, Swoyersville

041-702x1024

Byzantine Catholic Liturgical Book of Gospels illuminated with Christ the Teacher icon and Evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John

WHAT IT IS:   This is an informal small gathering of people who simply enjoy learning and sharing time together discussing topics.  There are no lectures, assignments, or outside reading required.   Our acceptance of each group member as having unique gifts and experiences encourages us to take what we learn and our shared insights forward into our personal lives.

WHY WE MEET:  There is always a need to learn new things.  Catechism for most adults today attending church may have been minimal, done poorly, or not present at all in the past.   There is a need in our parish families to close this gap.   But our goal is also to create a “space” where sharing and being together is just as important as any topic studied.

In group we will pause along the way, and take time to reflect on our views or ask questions.  We are always open to being flexible in where our discussion leads us.

We start our group with a prayer and end with a prayer, seeking wisdom and guidance from the Holy Spirit.

WHEN:   Every Thursday at approximately 7 pm following Liturgy (St. Nicholas rectory next to the chruch).   Please call 570-654-4564 for more information as needed.

WHERE: St. Nicholas Church, 271 Tripp Street, Swoyersville  [Note:  If you are coming for the first time please arrive first at St. Nicholas Church and introduce yourself as everyone gathers at the end of the service.]

TIME:  One hour

HOW OFTEN:  Weekly.   You can attend any or all sessions as your schedule allows.

WHO:  Anyone can attend whether you are Catholic or not, or if you might be interested in becoming a Catholic.  Current members of St. Michaels and St. Nicholas Churches are especially invited and encouraged to attend.  Bring a Friend.

Facilitators:  Deacon Larry and Father Gary
