50th Anniversary CoverSt. Michael Church begin with an idea in 1911 and was built upon the personal sacrifices and strong desire of immigrants from Eastern Europe.  Those early founders longed to have a place of worship in the traditions of their Carpatho-Rusyn ancestry.  Most came from what is today eastern Slovakia and western Ukraine.  In coming from a region of Europe where borders constantly changed  building a church of their own was unifying as a community.

Recently in September, Pope Francis made a historic visit to Eastern Slovakia, the ancestral region of many of our church founders.  During that event, the Pope was the celebrant at a Byzantine Catholic Liturgy, with our Bishop Kurt Burnette and the many bishops of the Presov region present.   Today, as second and third generation Americans and as parishioners of St. Michael Church, we honor the strong faith of our grandparents and great grandparents .  St. Michael Church also serves as a faith home to many of different backgrounds and experiences.

What do we have in common?   Our love of God of course!  And growing as a faith family inspired by the beauty found in the Eastern traditions of the Catholic Church!

The support the church receives with special events is instrumental to ensure St. Michael Church will shine as a treasure in the community well into the future.  We thank all !

In gratitude. the parish family remembers its origins and patron saint!

Framed St. Michael
